Welcome to Tawas Bay Yacht Club. We are located in northern Michigan near the tip of Tawas point, with access to beautiful Tawas Bay and Lake Huron beyond. Our club season runs from late April to early October. We enjoy a beautiful harbor that we share with US Coast Guard Station Tawas. Our clubhouse provides bar and restaurant services on weekends during the season. The club has a full social schedule including Commodore’s Ball, a family cook-out on the Fourth of July, Venetian night celebration Labor Day weekend, and others. Our members enjoy the Northern Michigan summer on our sandy beach and nights around our fire pit.
The waters of Tawas Bay offer outstanding sailing conditions. During the summer season our members and guests enjoy consistent winds, protected seas, and clear blue water. Because of this, as well as the hospitality of the local Tawas community we have hosted numerous sailing competitions at all levels. Each summer we hold the Ladd McKay PHRF racing series and Cannon Family Race series as well as other events including the Offshore 40, TBYC Invitational, Tawas Bay Challenge (with our friends from the marina across the Bay), and the Slammer Cup – a team event that alternates between TBYC and Huron Yacht Club on the opposite shore of Lake Huron. TBYC is home to J22 Fleet 44 which holds a summer on-design racing series and occasional regattas. We also have an active Sunfish fleet which welcomes guests a couple of weekends each summer. The Club has had the honor of hosting a number of championship regattas, including North American Championships for the Lightning, J22, Sunfish, Finn, National One Design, and Wayfarer classes. We’re proud to be represented by several winners of the prestigious Port Huron to Mackinaw race.
We welcome you to visit and consider joining us at our Great Lakes playground.
