Hello everyone,
Great day of racing on the bay. The Martini Glass course was a success; however, it would have been even better if we didn’t have to run a buoy out to R2. Fingers crossed that R2 and R4 are in place next year. Thanks to everyone for stepping up to help when needed and a special thanks to Matt Haglund for running the buoys for R2 and the gate out to their positions. The course split the fleet with Caliber and Skyfall opting to head toward R2 at the gate and the remaining three boats heading to Gyp2 after the gate. It turns out, it was pretty much a split as you’ll see in the results.

Next week we will hold a race, it won’t count toward the Cannon Series as we’ve completed all eight races this season on their scheduled dates. So, with that in mind, I’ll come up with some awards for 1st thru 5th next week, I already have some ideas. The race is on Sunday, August 23rd. Skipper meeting at 1030, start at 1200.
Reference the Tawas Bay Challenge, scheduled for Sunday, September 6th, I’d like to start gathering a semi-accurate headcount of boats and people. It will help those that are planning food if we can get an idea ahead of time. Last year we had ten boats competing and if I put five people on a boat that would be 50 people. We’ve come up with a number of 65 or so. If you plan on competing, just drop me a note with the number of expected people attending and I’ll start a list. Thanks.
Lastly, my wife came up with an excellent idea that I’d like to try. Starting this Wednesday, my plan is to show up at the yacht club at around 5:30pm and if you’d like to go out for an evening sail, show up as well. We’ll plan to leave the dock around 6:00pm. I will plan to do this for the next several weeks on Wednesday nights. We can take a different boat(s) out every Wednesday. The ultimate idea is to put this on the schedule for next season. We’ll call it an open sailing night where family, friends, and club members can just get out for a sail. Feel free to pass it along….
